THE COALITION is a statewide partnership of more than 60 regional and statewide organizations dedicated to the advancement of palliative medicine and end-of-life care in California.

Mission Statement

To promote high-quality, compassionate end-of-life care for all Californians.

Workgroups

The Coalition has various workgroups that provide input and advice on specific projects and topics related to end of life. Participation in the workgroups is open to anyone who is interested. Some workgroups meet three times a year. Others meet more often.  

The current workgroups are:

  • Public Engagement
  • Long-Term Care
  • Professional Practices
  • Developmental Disabilities

Advisory Board

The Coalition's activities are guided by a fourteen member advisory board.   Advisory board members are selected for the diverse knowledge and skills they bring related to end of life or the operation of a coalition.

Project of the California Health Foundation & Trust (CHFT)

The Coalition is a program that functions under the auspices of the California Health Foundation and Trust (CHFT). CHFT is an affiliate of the California Hospital Association (CHA).

The Coalition's initial work was funded in part by a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation for the purpose of promoting community-state partnerships around end-of-life issues.
